SANDY HOOK: BEACH CLOSED BY BACTERIA
One of the ocean beaches at Sandy Hook was closed Tuesday after a high level of bacteria was found in the water, NJ.com reported.
From the report:
Testing of the water off Beach D yielded results that showed high levels of bacteria, prompting staff to close that beach and the adjacent parking lot, said John Warren, a spokesman for Sandy Hook.
Beachgoers are being directed to any of the other guarded beaches in the national park, which are beaches C, E, Gunnison and North, he said.
Warren said he did not know a cause for the high levels. He said park service staff tests the water at the bathing beaches regularly.
