Press release from Brookdale Community College
Community members are invited to a free information session for a professional training program offered by Jersey Central Power and Light (JCP&L) and Brookdale Community College on Wednesday, November 11.
During the session, scheduled for 6 pm at BCC’s Lincroft campus, attendees can meet with JCP&L and Brookdale officials and learn about the recently reinstated Power Systems Institute training program, which prepares students for careers in the electric utility industry.
The two-year program offers hands-on training at JCP&L facilities, and technical coursework at Brookdale. Students will learn electrical fundamentals and other industry skills while gaining practical experience working on utility poles or electrical substations.
Graduates earn an associate degree in electric utility technology, and are qualified for work as an electrical utility professional. FirstEnergy, JCP&L’s parent corporation, will consider eligible graduates for immediate employment.
The information session will be held in the Collins Arena, 765 Newman Springs Road, Lincroft. Parking is in lots 6 and 7. Go here for more information, or call Anika Niehans at (610)921-6332.
