Check out, for starters, sophomore running back Anthony Summey’s two-touchdown, 127-yard night as Middletown South topped Red Bank Catholic 49 -14 at Count Basie Field in Red Bank, marring the return of coach Frank Edgerly.
On the road, Middletown North made a strong statement with a 34-7 win over Neptune as Connor Welsh notched three TDs and 105 running yards. The Lions will face off against the RBC Caseys next week.
In Jerry Schulte’s head coaching debut at Rumson-Fair Haven, the Bulldogs cruised to a 41-0 win over Raritan as Matt Vecchiarelli racked up 155 running yards on 11 carriers and three touchdowns.
Playing at home in Little Silver and coming off last year’s ‘magical’ 11-1 season, the Red Bank Regional Buccaneers were brought back to earth by JFK-Iselin, 27-3. (Video courtesy of Shore Sports Zone)
