Meantime, here’s the answer to last week’s “Where.”

176 West Front Street 092024

Last week’s “Where” photo was the brick warehouse-type building at 176 West Front Street.

The building is currently empty and was the site of a recent Lunch Break rummage sale at which a redbankgreen reporter purchased a very handsome wool cap he will be donning for the fall season. It is currently listed for rent, with a realtor advertising 4,000 square feet of available warehouse space.

Property records list it as being built in 1950 and a 1954 town directory lists it as the home of Baird Co. Farm Supplies. The company was a frequent advertiser in Red Bank Register newspaper of the day with ads touting refrigerators, freezers and harvesters for sale.

“Where” respondent Ruth Blaser identified it as the “old Bailey building.” Others recalled it as a the former home to Interstate batteries. Google street view photos from recent years show a sign for Craig Kiely Designs on the front of the store. All of this history will no doubt be overshadowed by the amazing purchase of that historically handsome wool cap keeping a bald reporter’s head warm in the coming months.
