Here’s the answer to last week’s “Where.”
Last week’s photo was a zoomed-in shot of boats stacked up and shrink wrapped for the winter and looming over the godforsaken phragmites at the northeastern most corner of Riverside Gardens Park.
The boats are in the Irwin Marine Center boatyard at the foot of Union Street next to the Monmouth Boat Club. A few people mistakenly guessed the boats were in the main Irwin boatyard slightly farther east by the hospital on the other side of Marine Park. A few other incorrect guesses came from folks who thought they might have been at the Red Bank Marina further west at the foot of Hubbard’s Bridge.
The family that owned Irwin’s for 139 years sold both waterfront operations last year to Maryland based marina operator Sagamore Blue. We stopped by the one in the photograph to see if anybody had any salty tales to tell us, but it was hard to communicate over the sound of the power washer workers were using to clean the boats.
