Here’s the answer to last week’s “Where.”
Last week’s photo was a close up of the swirly twizzler-style pillars in front of Patrizia’s restaurant at 28 Broad Street. The unique pillars are visible in photos taken when it was the furniture store Prima’s but it’s not clear when they were put there.
The building, built as the Merchant’s Trust Company, the name that still stands on the facade, is closing in on its 100th anniversary. It was built in 1927 and remains frankly stunning to walk into. One can see why the owners of Patrizia’s were smitten when they found the location and opened in 2013. Randal Gabrielan’s history book “Red Bank Vol. II” has some great photos and an interesting history of the building (see below, although you may be to scroll in the window a tad)
