Here’s the answer to last week’s “Where.”
Last week’s “Where” photo is of the letters “N” and ‘S’ on the old neon sign out in front of the store that was once Katsin’s pharmacy on Shrewsbury Avenue at 192 Shrewsbury Avenue.
Today the store is Floreria La Orquiedea, which in English means The Orchid Florist. Owner Angel Orzuna-Perez moved their florist business to the long vacant former pharamacy two years ago from their smaller location at 135 Shrewsbury Avenue (the once Johnny Jazz Market).
Building owner Steve Goodman, who bought the property in 2017, kept the old neon sign in the memory of his late son Daniel, who admired it. A sign on the base says it is dedicated to him. We were reading the dedication plaque when we looked up and noticed how the green and yellow contrasted beautifully with the deep blue late winter sky beyond and had to snap the photo for “Where.”
This one got a LOT of replies with several people saying this one was just too easy.
“A real easy one this week,” said Bill Fraser, who nailed it.
But that doesn’t seem to be the case, however, as this photo garnered perhaps the most wrong answers in this Wheremaster’s brief tenure.
Eight people guessed the sign was in front of the old Kislin’s store which stood for years at 8 Front Street and did have a neon sign with the store’s name for a period of time.
“It’s part of the Kislin’s sign on Front Street” one respondent said.
Some people seemed to know the sign was on Shrewsbury Avenue, but appeared to mix up their Kislins and their Katsins, like were like the one who said “It’s the former Kislin’s sign on Shrewsbury Ave.” 
And another guesser criss-crossed the names of both stores and guessed “Kitsin’s Pharmacy.”
William Billich guessed it was part of the Seldin’s sign, harkening to the jewelry store that also sat on Front Street. And another guesser thought the sign belonged to another retailer that moved out years ago, Prown’s.
Cecelia Freda was sharp enough to know the sign was featured already in a June 2023 installment of ‘Where’. I was just a reader then and had no idea or I wouldn’t have done it again. But I’m glad we did because this one was just so crazy fun.
