WHERE HAVE I SEEN THIS?

Do you know where in Red Bank the above photo was taken?

Send your answer (or best guess) to [email protected] by noon, Thursday, March 13. We’ll reveal the location the next day.

Subscribers to redbankgreen‘s Red Bank Blast newsletter get the “Where” photo, along with the latest headlines, sent to their inboxes every week.

Here’s the answer to last week’s “Where.”

Last week’s photo is the roofline of an older Red Bank home currently home to a software company at 41 Riverside Avenue and the more modern building home to Atrium at Navesink Harbor senior living across the street at 40 Riverside.

We’ll let “Where” regular Sue Noone describe it:

“The brick Atrium assisted living building on Riverside Avenue is peeking over the top of the back of 41 Riverside,” Noone wrote to us. “I’m guessing you captured this shot from one of the upper floors of the parking garage on West Front Street, next to Pazzo?

She nailed the location. As for the spot from which it was taken, well, um, we wish she was correct.

This week’s “Where” photo was a rare instance in which we the photo was a contribution from a reader (which we generally welcome although with veto rights) and not taken by us.

So we posted it without knowing the precise location from which it was taken. When we went there, we realized the photographer had taken it from a private yard they were visiting.

As a rule, we keep “Where” photos to shots taken and things visible from the public right of way. And because, unlike the photographer, we did not have permission to go on the property, we do not have a proper “reveal” photo this week. Here’s two shots of the buildings in the photo, The Atrium and 41 Riverside Avenue, taken from the frontside of each.

Stu Friedlin nailed the photographer’s location: “In the foreground, we see the top of the more modest, white building at 41 Riverside Avenue, but we see it from the back of the building, currently serving as the headquarters of Megasys LTD.  So the picture was taken from the parking lot behind the building.

But the location makes it all the more remarkable that folks were able to nail it so precisely.

Incorrect guesses (all the more understandable due to our own rule-breaking) included

“The view from the back of the Dub”

“Monmouth street looking west from driveway of multi home couple doors west of fins and feathers”

and “Riverview Towers. The foreground near building Is the the luxury waterfront condo complex east of the library.
