Is one of Red Bank’s pizzerias serving up acorn pizza?
redbankgreen spotted an eastern grey squirrel carrying a slice of pizza in a small grove of trees that lines a parking lot on Broad Street behind some garages of homes on adjacent Hudson Avenue.
While the famous New York City pizza rat whose video went viral in the late 2010’s eventually was revealed as a performance art hoax, we can assure you Red Bank’s pizza squirrel is the real thing.
We tried to get a closer shot and he or she ran up the trunk of a maple tree, where we captured another photo (below) of them peering out from between the leaves with their slice of local deliciousness.
The Sciurus carolinensis (or perhaps Sciurus mozzarellus) managed to get the entire slice all the way up to the top branches of the tree. Mangia, pizza squirrel!
What local pizzeria do you think squirrels would like best?
