RED BANK: AS SOGGINESS DRAGS ON, SYMPHONY CONCERT MOVED TO BASIE

C’mon, seriously? The seemingly endless rain is now messing with perhaps the most blissful night on Red Bank’s calendar: Wednesday’s free scheduled performance by the NJ Symphony in Marine Park is being moved indoors.

The National Weather Service’s forecast calls for showers and thunderstorms likely before 11pm, then a chance of showers between 11pm and 2am.

Thankfully, in addition to a gorgeous riverfront park, Red Bank also has a gorgeous 99-year old theater in which  to hear them play Mozart and Duke Ellington.

Here’s the message sent out by the Count Basie Center for the Arts Monday afternoon:

Due to expected inclement weather,  Wednesday’s free, outdoor community performance with the New Jersey Symphony in Red Bank has been moved inside to the Count Basie Center for the Arts, 99 Monmouth Street.

Doors for the event will open at 5PM, with a performance from the Count Basie Center Conservatory of Music Orchestra at 5:45. The Symphony performance will begin at 7pm sharp.

The event remains free and open to the public on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Patrons who purchased VIP tickets for the original outdoor performance will have their VIP tickets honored at the Basie Center. To purchase additional VIP tickets, which grant the holder a reserved seat, a popcorn and a soda, click here.
