RED BANK: FIRST SNOWFALL FORECAST

UPDATE: This story is being updated to include the 1 pm statement by the borough about storm parking restrictions in effect. See the graphic below.

By BRIAN DONOHUE

The Red Bank area could see the first snowfall of the season Saturday into Sunday, with between one to five inches forecast.

National Weather Service maps issued early Saturday morning predict a 92 percent chance of at least two inches of snow accumulation.

Looks like the forecast is not quite lining up with our near perfect evening plans to catch A Christmas Carol at The Basie Center Cinema House followed by a pint at the Dublin house and then walking home in the snow, however.

The precipitation is expected to begin as rain late Saturday night. The NWS warns that could result in salt and brine applied by road crews before the storm being washed away. Trucks could be seen out Friday brining local roads in Red Bank.

The snow will usher in a few days of bitter cold and wind chills. A few more weeks of this and maybe we’ll see the iceboats on the Navesink again this year. Silver linings, people.

Here’s the forecast for the weekend and the next few days. Brrr.
