Looking for a place that will process your passport application? Red Bank Borough Hall is now an option.
The Borough Council approved an ordinance on Thursday establishing fees for the new service now being offered in the office of Borough Clerk Mary Moss.
Passport applicants typically need to make an appointment at a local post office or the Monmouth County Clerk’s office.
Borough Manager Jim Gant said Moss’s office had recently been set up to process the applications for residents and non-residents alike.
“I think it’s going to be a great program,” Gant said at the March council meeting at which the ordinance was introduced.
“People can come to Borough Hall, make an appointment at the clerk’s office just as they would in the Monmouth County Clerk’s Office, or any post office. We take the pictures, we send out the applications, we collect the payments. It’s a service that I utilized once in a municipality and I said, ‘This is something we need in Red Bank.
Gant said the service is not restricted to Red Bank residents. “It’s a revenue generating source for the borough.”
Gant credited Borough Clerk Mary Moss (pictured at right) who he said had, “taken the ball and run with it” to get the new service up and running.
