A family of five displaced when a fire tore through their Chestnut Street home last week is getting help from a GoFundMe campaign set up to help get them back on their feet.
According to the fund drive page set up by Cynthia Gaspar, the Campos family is “faced with the heartbreaking reality of starting over from scratch.”
“The Campos family has proudly called Red Bank home for over 14 years,” the page reads. “They are a loving family of five who have built their lives, memories, and sense of home in our community.”

The fund drive post continues:
“In the early morning hours, at approximately 2:30 a.m., tragedy struck when a devastating house fire on Chestnut Street in Red Bank forced the family to flee their home. In just a matter of moments, they lost the place they had called home for over 14 years.We have created this GoFundMe to help the Campos family through this unimaginable time. Donations will help cover temporary housing, clothing, food, everyday essentials, moving expenses, and the many unexpected costs that come with rebuilding their lives after such a devastating loss.”
The Campos family is one of two families displaced in the fire. The cause of the fire is under investigation, but Red Bank Fire Department Chief Michael Welsh said last week the focus was on the central air conditioning unit that sat outside the house. The GoFundMe page includes a close-up photo of the burnt wiring running from the AC unit to the house.
