Here’s the answer to last week’s “Where.”
Last week’s photo was taken at the corner of River Street and Leighton Avenue. The intersection, long a source of concern from neighborhood residents about speeding cars and pedestrian dangers, received an eye-popping makeover last summer designed to slow drivers down.
The flowers and designs were painted with the help of local kids from the Boys & Girls Club along with bollards installed by borough employees.
The strategy is called tactical urbanism, defined as “flexible and short-term projects to advance long-term goals related to street safety, public space, and more.” redbankgreen covered the installation here.
We have a couple of sad trombones to play.
One person guessed the art was near the Red Bank Middle School and another person asked for a “half point” for guessing it was either South Street or “on the West Side, UGH.”
Sorry, no half points given around here. You nail it or you don’t!
