Here’s the answer to last week’s “Where.”

169 River Road Red Bank 2025 Google streetviewLast week’s ” Where ” was of the lawn and flowers outside 169 River Road.

Above is a September 2025 Google streetview image of the same pink flowers and manicured green lawn.

We went down the rabbit hole of the Zillow 131-photo slideshow and decided the house has to be in the running for the nicest home in Red Bank.

Except for that lawn, however, which would be a lot better for wildlife and the Navesink River (and more interesting to look at) if it were replaced by a nice native plant pollinator garden. Oh well, don’t get me started.

In 2010, redbankgreen reported that the home, which sits on a bluff overlooking the Navesink River, was once the home of the late Florence Forgotson Adams, who made her name as the county’s first female attorney. She died in 2007 at the age of 99. We found this absolutely wonderful 1990 NY Times story about her that’s worth a read. Here is a gift link we hope will work for non-NYT subscribers: A Woman’s Journey in the World of Law.

In 2020, owner James Price appeared before the Red Bank Historic Preservation Commission seeking approvals to put up those white gates, according to meeting minutes.

“He said people are always turning in his driveway thinking it is a road,” the minutes read.

Indeed, Terese Gennarelli, wrote in and correctly identified the photo and added the landscaping “beckons you to enter.”

“Wherester” Joe Schweers wrote in noting the home used to be owned by the Maurer Family. One person incorrectly guessed the photo was taken at Riverside Gardens Park. And Kate Brannan nailed it even though she said she’s moved out of town and was working strictly from memory. Impressive. This one was sent in by redbankgreen co-founder Trish Russiniello and I had no idea where it was.

Jeanne Smith correctly identified it and said “I believe it’s the largest piece of property for a single family home in Red Bank” adding, “the new owners have done a spectacular job.”

Thanks to those who wrote in.
