MERCHANTS MINGLE FOR LITTLE SILVER DAY

print-3Press release from Culinary Communications

Little Silver residents and business owners who are interested in becoming contributing sponsors of the inaugural Little Silver Day are invited to attend a cocktail party on Friday, February 5, to meet with event organizers and discuss sponsorship options.

During the event, going on between 7 to 11 pm at the borough firehouse on Prospect Avenue, local merchants will have the opportunity to meet members of the event’s steering committee, and learn more about this summer’s inaugural Little Silver Day, a festival of food, fun and fireworks for all borough residents.

Scheduled for Saturday, June 25, Little Silver Day will feature an afternoon of live music, children’s events, food and adult beverages, and will conclude with a spectacular fireworks display that will light up the night sky (the rain date is Sunday, June 26). The event, which will be held at the borough’s fields behind Borough Hall and between the library and the Markham Place School,  is expected to attract about 1,000 locals, and will be free to Little Silver residents (with nominal fees charged for food and beverages to help support the staging of the event).

“Sponsors have already come forward,” said event coordinator Rick Brandt. “But we definitely want as many business owners as possible to participate, and there are many ways and levels in which businesses can be involved.”

Invitations for the February 5 party will be mailed and e-mailed to borough businesses soon. The invitation also is extended not just to businesses located in Little Silver, but also business owners who reside in Little Silver and have businesses located outside the borough.

An application for a 501 c 3 not-for-profit foundation called Little Silver Charitable Foundation has been filed. The not-for-profit status will allow fundraising to be carried out to help fund the event and support education, recreation and other good causes directly related to Little Silver.

Volunteer committees have been formed and plans are well underway for this community event. It is expected to become an annual event that will take on added significance years from now, when the borough celebrates its centennial in 2023.

Reservations to the cocktail party are requested, and business owners are asked to RSVP to Beth McLoone, the Entertainment Committee Chairperson, at [email protected] or (732)241-6771. For information on volunteering, suggestions, or to learn more about the possible sponsorship opportunities and other ways to get involved, please contact Rick Brandt at (908)675-7646 or [email protected].
