The fire, which was contained to the roaster, occurred shortly before 11 p.m., when the business was closed and Crosson’s daughter, shop manager Courtlyn Crosson, seen at right, was preparing beans. No flames were visible, though burnt-bean smoke filled the store, she said. Volunteer Red Bank firefighters responded and ventilated the place.
“There’s a saying in the industry that you’re not a real coffee roaster until you’ve had a roaster fire,” Crosson told redbankgreen. “So now we’ve had one.” (Photo by John T. Ward. Click to enlarge)
