SANDY HOOK CONCERTS RETURN TO THE BEACH

the-nerds-1567554Plaid-shirted partystarters the Nerd hit the beach this Wednesday evening for the first in a new season of free outdoor concerts on Sandy Hook, seen below from Highlands.

sandy-hook-concession-090114-220x165-6311736Sounding the keynote to the season of free outdoor concerts in and around the Greater Red Bank Green — and showing them all how it’s done — the long-running Sandy Hook Beach Concert Series returns to the peninsula for another slate of events at Beach Area E this week.

Presented by the Sandy Hook Foundation, the 6 p.m. concerts are all-ages, multi-generational celebrations that come equipped with sandy seating, natural A/C and complimentary sunsets. It all begins anew this Wednesday, June 15, with a rare exposure to sunlight by those most pocket-protected of party-starting pop-rock-funk powerhouses, the Nerds.

Mongo, Spaz, Biff and Stretch will be carrying on a tradition that neither time, tide, nor the temper-tantrum that was Superstorm Sandy could silence. They’ll kick off a schedule that offers up seven additional shows from now through August 17. Be sure to take along those beach chairs, blankets and dancing shoes

Here’s the complete rundown for the summer of 2016:

June 15: the Nerds

June 29: A salute to the Fab Four and more, with Glen Burtnik and the Weeklings

July 6: The return of Tim McLoone and the Shirleys

July 13: Jersey Shore guitar legend Bob Bandiera

July 20: In-demand show band the Sensational Soul Cruisers

July 27: Classic rock and originals with the Carl Gentry Band

August 3: (RAIN DATE)

August 10: Rock and roll double bill with Rip Tide and the Sam Sims Band (5:30 start time)

August 17: Rocking R&B with JoBonanno and the Godsons of Soul

Beach wheelchairs are available on a first-come, first-served basis. In case of severe weather forecast, cancellations are made at 2 p.m. on the day of the show. Check the website or call (732)291-7733 for information.
