Remembering the dead of the September 11, 2001 attacks on American soil is part of the “vigilance” against future acts of terrorism, Red Bank Mayor Pasquale Menna said at a commemoration held in Riverside Gardens Park Sunday morning, 15 years after the tragedy.
“Our vigilance must continue, but it must be couched in terms of remembering,” Menna told the three dozen or so attendees. “If we stop thinking about them, then our sense of vigilance is lost.”
As it has at past 9/11 ceremonies here, the blue-and-white clad Chorus of the Atlantic sang renditions of ‘The Star-Spangled Banner’ and other tunes at the event, hosted by Red Bank Elks Lodge #233 , whose headquarters abuts the park. (Photos by John T. Ward. Click to enlarge)
