MERRY CHRISTMAS AND HAPPY HOLIDAYS FROM REDBANKGREEN

Whew, that went fast. It’s one year down at the journalism equivalent of the “wonderful old building and loan.”

When we made this parody video of “It’s a Wonderful Life” a year ago to announce publisher Kenny Katzgrau hiring me to take over the helm from founder and longtime editor John Ward, I had no idea how the themes of the movie would continue to resonate once I settled into the role. I had really just always wanted to run through Red Bank screaming at the buildings like Jimmy Stewart’s character George Bailey.

But see, what the past year has opened my eyes to, in profound Baily-esque fashion, is this: When it’s your town and your community, (and a place as great as this) every little story about every traffic light and charity event just feels so much more important.

Every little chance to spread a smile, raise awareness, tell someone’s story or crack that inside Red Bank, IYKYK joke feels so much more exciting. I feel like the richest man in town to be able to do it.

And so we here at redbankgreen want to thank you, our readers and advertisers, for all your support in helping us keep Red Bank from becoming yet another local news Pottersville.

Myself, Kenny and Katie Katzgrau and, we’re sure (although we didn’t call him to interrupt his retirement to find out) John Ward all wish you and yours a Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays and Happy New Year.
