RED BANK WEATHER ALERT: FORECAST SHIFTS, SO MOVE THOSE CARS!

The 6 am. Sunday map puts the Red Bank area a bit more on the snowy side of the situation.

NOTE: THIS POST IS BEING UPDATED AT 11 AM SUNDAY TO REFLECT FORECAST ADJUSTED FOR HIGHER SNOW TOTALS AND A MANDATORY ON STREET PARKING BAN

By BRIAN DONOHUE

With the National Weather Service calling for the possibility of several inches of snow Sunday into Sunday night, Borough officials are  encouraging requiring residents to move their cars off the street and monitor an uncertain forecast. that could require mandatory on street parking bans.

The National Weather Service’s 6 am Sunday update called for higher possible snow accumulations along the shore than earlier forecasts and a winter weather advisory that now includes Monmouth county.

An initial alert sent out by the borough Friday “encouraged” residents to get their cars off the streets to give room for plows to pass and clear the street to the curb. A second alert sent Saturday afternoon said amid changing accumulation forecasts, residents may be required to move them if snow removal operations are required. Updated forecasts now put the Red Bank area more on the snowy side of the situation.

Here’s the full Sunday morning  alert from the Borough sent out over social media and the borough’s alert system

The National Weather Service’s latest briefing indicates that snow impacts have slightly increased, so we urge everyone to prepare accordingly.

No On-Street Parking is permitted when roads are snow-covered as per Ordinance 680-3/680-55. Residents are REQUIRED to move their vehicles. Citations will be issued to vehicles in violation.

Reminder:Municipal lots will be available for parking from noon today through noon tomorrow.

Additionally, snow removal operations will begin this afternoon, so please be mindful of crews working to clear the roads.

Stay safe, stay informed and thank you for you cooperation!
