Here’s the answer to last week’s “Where.”

City Center 2 Water Street Red Bank 012026

Last week’s photo was of the odd fake bricked over doorway feature in the wall of the clock tower of City Centre Plaza at 2 Water Street, where it meets West Front Street. The shopping plaza is home to Walgreen’s, Chipotle, Dunkin’ Donuts and Cluck U Chicken.

We’re really not sure what the purpose of the great and darker brick is, except perhaps to break up the uniformity of the brick, which I suppose it kind of does.

Wheregular Sandra Talarico speculated, “Maybe they were gonna put a door there at some point.”

Jim Cummings wrote, “That bricked-over doorway has always seemed like something from an Edgar Allen Poe Story (Amontillado, anyone?)”

Mary Ellen Banfield gave us a bit of history, writing the site is “the former location of Miner’s Supply Company – Peachy Plumbing Paraphernalia – across from the “Krummy Krupp” cannon as Harvey Miner used to say.”

(The Krummy Krupp was the subject of a Where Have I Seen This just a few weeks ago.)
