With a coastal flood warning in place, Red Bank weathered a morning high tide along the Navesink River with minor flooding in spots but little apparent damage and, so far, no power outages from the raging nor’easter.
At the time of this posting, however, we’re only about halfway through this, so fingers crossed.
Another high tide along the Navesink arrives around roughly 9 pm Saturday before the storm is predicted to slowly subside Sunday, although flooding remains a concern along the coast until Monday.
The National Weather Service is predicting continued possible wind gusts of up to 60 miles per hour Saturday into Sunday. With the ground saturated from the storms heavy rains and trees still full of heavy leaves, fralling trees is a major concern.
The storm caused a host of cancellations of weekend events in town, including a Walk for Democracy slated for Saturday (rescheduled to October 11) and the cancellation of the weekly Red Bank Farmers Market on Sunday.
A Mac & Cheese festival slated for Saturday has also been rescheduled to November 7, according to a social media post by the organizers.
