PAIR REPORTS GUNPOINT ROBBERY

Red Bank police are investigating a report by two men who said they were robbed at gunpoint on Shrewsbury Avenue early Wednesday morning.

The victims, borough residents 21 and 17 years old, told police that while walking on Shrewsbury between River Street and Bank Street, they were approached from behind by two men who placed guns to their backs. 


The robbers took cash and a cellular telephone from one of the victims and fled on foot to a waiting cream-colored, four-door sedan.


The car, which was driven by a female and contained another passenger, was last seen heading south on Shrewsbury Avenue, police said in a news release issued this afternoon. 


The victims alerted police at 12:21, according to police records.


One robber was described as a black male, five-foot-six, with a thin build, dark complexion, hair in corn rows and thin beard along his chin line. He was  wearing a red and black baseball cap, black shirt, light blue jeans and white tennis sneakers. 


The second suspect is described also as a black male, 19 years old, six feet tall, with a thin build, small thin beard, close-cropped hair and medium complexion. He was reported to be wearing a black tee shirt. 


An investigation is being conducted by Det. Robert Clayton and Inv. Juan Sardo. The initial responding officer was Ptl. Thomas Doremus.
