YARD SALE WATCH: MADISON AVENUE

MadisonaveTen families have signed up for this weekend’s event on Madison Avenue, says organizer Sandy Riddle.

Yes, folks, the redbankgreen Yard Sale Watch is back, bringing you word about interesting outdoor bargain-hunting opportunities as we beat the drum for the second annual Red Bank Townwide Yard Sale coming in September.

Here’s our offer: if you’re having a yard sale within our coverage area, let us know and we’ll get the word out. Send us all the information — date, time, location and rain date, if any — in an email at least ten days in advance, and please put the words “yard sale” in the subject line.

We kick the season off today with word from Madison Avenue of a streetlong event. At least 10 households are expected to put our their wares on Saturday from 10 a to 2p, says organizer Sandy Riddle. The rain date is Sunday, same hours.

Why would we do this when we’ll be co-sponsoring the townwide event? Won’t individual sales detract from participation in the bigger event?

We think not. We’re acting on the belief that the more people are talking about Red Bank in the context of yard sales, the bigger the townwide event will be.

Last year’s event involved 150 homes all over town, with shoppers coming from as far away as New York state and Maryland. And given the positive reviews that were heard, we’re  hoping to top that this year.

The event is scheduled for Saturday, September 19, pending approval of the borough special events committee. There’s no rain date.

Keep tuning in here for details. As we get closer to the date, redbankgreen will again launch a dedicated web page full of information about who’s participating and how to get the most out of it.

Meantime, pilot the minivan over to Madison Avenue Saturday and let the sellers know that redbankgreen sent you.
