A blizzard that prompted a declaration of a state of emergency left a good two feet of snow in the Red Bank area Sunday and prompted a near-complete shutdown of schools, businesses and government operations on Monday.

As of 6a, North Jersey Coast Line service was temporarily suspended in both directions due to weather-related operating difficulties.
Schools and government offices are closed, and Red Bank and Fair Haven have canceled trash pickup scheduled for Monday.
Though the snowfall has ended, a wind advisory remains in effect, with the National Weather Service predicting sustained northwest winds of 25 to 35 miles per hour and gusts of up to 50 mph.
A NJ Transit train struck an unoccupied vehicle that got stuck on the tracks at Monmouth Street in Red Bank Sunday evening, the Asbury Park Press reported. There were no injuries.
