FAIR HAVEN TO NAME NEW ADMINISTRATOR

It took a little longer than expected, but Fair Haven is ready to appoint borough administrator Mary Howell‘s successor.

The council will hold a special meeting Monday night to vote on a contract for Howell’s replacement, whom Mayor Mike Halfacre would not yet identify.

“We haven’t voted on it yet and the contract terms are not quite finalized yet,” he said, “but we’re very excited to have the search done.”

Since Howell announced her resignation in September, the council received more than 100 applications for the post and interviewed about 20 candidates, Halfacre said. The original goal was to have a replacement in house by the end of last year, but the process was delayed by contract negotiations.

Halfacre expects no problems on Monday and said Howell will move out of borough hall the next morning.

“We have our candidate. Their first day will be Tuesday,” he said.

Howell’s departure from Fair Haven is strictly for personal reasons, she’s said. She gave birth to her first child last year, and reduced her role to part-time status to spend more time at home. In September she decided to leave her job and become a full-time mother.

Prior to that, she drew a salary of $105,000. Halfacre wouldn’t discuss the potential terms of the new administrator’s contract.

The special meeting will be held at 7p at borough hall.
