After being told he was going to be evicted from his Harmony Road home, a Middletown man lashed out by taking power tools and a match to the place, police said.

Police arrested 31-year-old Christopher Bossick for setting fire to the home at 717 Harmony Road Wednesday afternoon, Detective Lieutenant Steve Dollinger said.

When fire and police arrived at the home, at about 3p, there was smoke coming from the house and a fire in the bedroom. The fire department extinguished the fire fairly quick, but the damage, Dollinger said, was “considerable.”

At the scene, emergency responders taped off the area around the home and worked to clean up the charred mess and broken glass on the property.

Bossick set fire to the home in retaliation after being notified by the property owner that he was going to be evicted, Dollinger said. Before setting the fire, Bossick used power tools to damage to the interior of the house, he said.

Bossick was charged with aggravated arson and three counts of criminal mischief, and was held on $50,000 bail with no 10 percent option.
