SHREWSBURY WOMAN STRUCK BY CAR

A 67-year-old Shrewsbury woman was seriously injured Friday after she was hit by a car while walking in or near the parking lot of the Trader Joe’s supermarket, police report.

Detective Sergeant Bobby Turner tells redbankgreen that the victim appeared to have been struck in the north end of the store’s parking lot near Avenue of the Commons at about 11:15 a.m.

The victim’s name was not immediately disclosed. She is a borough resident, Tuner said.

She was taken by Shrewsbury volunteer first aiders and medics to Jersey Shore Medical Center in Neptune with an injury that Turner said was serious but not believed to be life threatening.

No information about the driver of the vehicle was immediately available, Turner said.
