RED BANK RAID NETS DRUGS, LOADED GUN

call-in-the-authoritiesRed Bank police arrested five adults on narcotics and other charges in a raid on Spring Street apartment Wednesday evening, the department announced Thursday.

A loaded handgun, drugs and cash were confiscated in the execution of a search warrant at the apartment, said Captain Darren McConnell.

The raid was the was the culmination of an investigation conducted by Sergeatnt Robert Clayton into narcotic distribution at the residence, McConnell sai.

Arrested and held on the following bail amounts were:

Charles Johnson, 23, of Red Bank  – $352,000
Charles Wilson, 25, of Red Bank  – $302,500
Chantal Tharrington, 21, of Red Bank – Released on Recognizance
Kareem Smith, 23, of Red Bank  – $352,500
David Hutchinson, 25, of Red Bank  – $353,000

Each was charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance, possession with intent to distribute, possession with intent to distribute in a school zone, unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon while committing distribution of narcotics, possession of marijuana, and possession of narcotic paraphernalia.

In addition, Johnson, Smith, and Hutchinson were also charged with certain persons not to possess a weapon, McConnell said.

Recovered in the raid were approximately a half ounce of cocaine, marijuana, drug paraphernalia used in the distribution of narcotics, $8,000 in cash, and a loaded handgun, he said.

Detectives from the Monmouth County Prosecutors Office and K-9 units from the Monmouth County
Sherriff’s Department assisted in the raid.
