The winners of the eighth annual Andrew Kroon Scholarship raffle were announced June 8 at Red Bank Regional (RBR) High Schools annual reception for The SOURCE.
They were:
Third Prize: $637.50 Juanita Lewis.
Second Prize: $637.50 Robin Stavola, who donated her winnings right back to the program.
First Prize: $1912.50 Carol Johnson.
A total of $6375 was raised for the scholarship, introduced in 2004, which is awarded to deserving ELL (English Language Learner) students graduating from RBR who are looking to further their education at Brookdale Community College.

Red Banks Pilgrim Baptist Church held its annual Graduation Day service Sunday June 10, when participants of Pilgrim’s Academic Recognition Program received gift cards for their achievements. The five graduating high school seniors also each received brand new Dell laptops and HP printers, purchased by the Education Ministry of Pilgrim, as preparation for college.

The Education Foundation of Little Silver presented a check for $44,241.42 to the Little Silver Board of Education on June 11. The money will be used to purchase eight SMART Boards and three iPads, among other tools that will enhance the education of students.

Sink It for Semper Fi, a beer pong tournament, was held Wednesday night at Taste in the Galleria to raise funds fo the Injured Marine Semper Fi Fund. Organizer Angela Courtney of Sweetest Sin Boutique was chosen to participate in the 2012 New York City Marathon November 4 on behalf of her husband, U.S. Marine Corps veteran James Courtney.
The tournament raised $1,060 for the cause and Courtney herself has raised $2,836 of her $5,000 goal. All summer long, Sweetest Sin shoppers who donate $10 or more will be entered into a raffle in which they can win a $200 gift card to the boutique.
