Friday, April 19:

LINCROFT:  Presented by Make it Better for Youth and the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Monmouth County, “Breaking the Silence, Celebrating Our Voices” concludes the “Day of Silence,” a national student-led action in honor of gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender students and their families and friends taking a stand against bullying, harassment, abuse and more. Performances by Kailynn Barbour, poet, blogger and 2012 recipient of the Lionel Cuffie Award for Activism and Excellence, and the New Jersey Gay Men’s Chorus begin at 7 p.m. 1475 West Front Street.

RED BANK:  “The Electric Baby” births at Two River Theatre.  The drama follows three different pairs – a middle-aged couple, ahopelessly devoted lover and the apple of her eye, and a Romanian mother and Nigerian father caring for their child – who discover the ways in which their lives are connected.  The play, by Stefanie Zadravec, runs through May 5. Tickets are $24-$42 and the show begins at 8 p.m. 21 Bridge Avenue.

RED BANK:  “Anything Goes” at the old fashioned classic musical appearing at Count Basie.  Directed by Gary Shaffer, the show is filled with laughs, love, and Cole Porter favorites. Tickets are $22, $26, or $32.  99 Monmouth Street.

Saturday, April 20:

LITTLE SILVER:  One manÂ’s trash is another manÂ’s treasure at the Little Silver PTO Rummage Sale the WomanÂ’s Club of Little Silver. Proceeds from the sale of “unwanted, gently used” items will help pay for the fourth-, seventh- and eighth-grade field trips for the 2013-2014 academic year. Unsold items will be donated to local charities. The sale runs from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. 146 Broad Street.

LINCROFT:  “Calling All Bargain Shoppers and Yard Sale Enthusiasts” – The Lincroft Village Green Association holds its ninth annual Lincroft Community Yard Sale from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at homes throughout the Lincroft community. Come shop for treasures in Lincroft’s many neighborhoods.

MIDDLETOWN:  May the force be with you at Star Wars Family Day at the Middletown Public Library.  Crafts, giveaways, and a chance to check out some of the library’s extensive collection of Star Wars books, videos, games, and more. Costumes are encouraged (‘weÂ’ll help you make your Jedi outfit complete!’). The event begins at 1 p.m. 55 New Monmouth Road.

SHREWSBURY:  An “Alice In Wonderland” themed bilingual ballet makes it way to the Eastern Branch of the Monmouth County Library as part of The Performing Arts Ensemble of Red Bank in honor of the multicultural celebration of books and literacy for kids known as DIA (Diversity in Action).  Starts at 2 p.m. 1001 Route 35 North.

RED BANK: Selwyn A. Collins, author and motivational speaker, will be at the Red Bank Public Library, reading from his work “The EartHeart Knows,” which is described as a collection of blessings and meditations for your daily life. The event is free and begins at 2 p.m.  84 West Front Street.

Sunday, April 21:

MIDDLETOWN:  Local Poets Mocha(butter)fly, Simone Nikkole and Joshua Emmanuel will read their original works at the Middletown Township Public Library. The readings begin at 2 p.m. 55 New Monmouth Road.

LINCROFT:  A showing of the social action film “Bidder 70” will take place at the Unitarian Meetinghouse.  The film focuses on civil disobedience demanding government and industry accountability.  University of Utah economics student Tim DeChristopher committed an act- surreptitiously disrupting an auction of land for oil and gas drilling, and thereby protecting 22,000 acres- which would redefine patriotism in our time, igniting a spirit of civil disobedience in the name of climate justice. Light refreshments will be served and the showing starts at 6 p.m.  1475 W Front Street.

RED BANK:  Directed by Reid Masters, the New Jersey Chamber Singers visit Tower Hill Church for it’s special concert series.  The concert is free and runs from 7 to 8:30 p.m. 255 Harding Road.

LITTLE SILVER: Don’t miss out on Sickles Kids Day, a day filled with fun activities for the whole family. Enchanting magic shows, food tastings, gardening activities, and more! Special guest, Fair Haven childrenÂ’s author Justin Drazin will be visiting for a reading of his book “Albert and the Amazing Pillow Monsters.”  The event runs from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. 1 Harrison Ave.

RED BANK:  Take a 2.5 Minute Ride to Two River Theater to see a funny and moving autobiographical story. The story focuses on the relationship between author and storyteller Lisa Kron and her Holocaust survivor father.  Tickets are $24 – $42.  The event begins at 8 p.m. 21 Bridge Ave.
