Saturday, September 14:
RED BANK: Scramble up your Saturday night, bring your Scrabble board (and a dictionary) and compete against other Scrabble scrimmagers at the Red Bank Public Library. The Scrabble tournament runs from 2 to 4 p.m. 84 West Front Street.
RED BANK: Musician Bob Burger returns to Red Bank for a Saturday night set at the Walt Street Pub. The show begins at 8 p.m. 180 Monmouth Street.
RUMSON: The Snakes slither into Molly Maguire’s Black Point Inn for some seriously venomous Saturday night entertainment. The Irish music begins at 9:30 p.m. 132 East River Road.
RED BANK: It’s opening night, and season-opening night, at the the Two River Theatre with “On Borrowed Time,” Paul Osborn’s play about the importance of death in life. Directed by Tony and Oscar award winner Joel Grey, the performance begins at 8 p.m. Tickets are $20 – $40. 21 Bridge Avenue.
Sunday, September 15:
FAIR HAVEN: The Tour de Fair Haven, one of the Northeast’s premier bike racing events, kicks off at 7 a.m. and continues until early afternoon, and features a pro men’s race of 20 laps with a purse of $6,500. The 1.7-mile course begins and ends at the firehouse on River Road.
LINCROFT: This Sunday, adjust your focus to digital artist Jo Grazide, who give gives a free presentation, hosted by the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Monmouth County, on digital photography in nature. “Focus on Nature: Through a Lens Lightly” begins at 9 a.m. 1475 West Front Street.
RUMSON: We’re halfway to shamrocks and leprechauns, and Molly Maguire’s Black Point Inn hosts a celebration to benefit the Rumson St. Patrick’s Day Parade. Quench your thirst at the Bloody Mary bar while Irish singer/songwriter Sean Hennessy provides the entertainment. ‘Halfway to St. Pat’s Day’ runs from 1 to 5 p.m. 132 East River Road.
RED BANK: The Galleria Red Bank Farmers Market presents fresh produce from local farms and highlights area eateries and unique crafts. The market runs every Sunday through November form 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Corner of Bridge Avenue and West Front Street.
LINCROFT: For the 50th Anniversary celebration of the Monmouth Museum, pieces from the Society of Gilders make their way to the display showcase. The free opening reception of “Covered in Gold: Exploring the History, Art and Craft of Gilding” runs from 4 to 6 p.m. 765 Newman Springs Road.
RED BANK: Performance artists and giant puppets designed by Michael Curry take the stage to represent the changes of the seasons of life on earth. Moses Pendleton presents MOMIX: Botanica at Count Basie Theatre. The show runs from 7 to 9 p.m. Tickets are $15.50, $25.50, $35.50, and $39.50. 99 Monmouth Street.
