Calls to Red Bank police were “coming in fast and furious” Monday morning as East Side residents awoke to find their cars burglarized, Chief Darren McConnell tells redbankgreen.
By 9:45 a.m. Labor Day, at least 10 reports of overnight thefts from parked cars had been received, McConnell said.
All of the reports were from east of Prospect Avenue, in the vicinity of John Street, Harrison Avenue and Lake Avenue, McConnell said.
In all cases, the cars had been left unlocked, he said. The thief or thieves took loose change, wallets and other personal possessions.
McConnell said residents should be sure to lock their vehicles and report thefts or suspicious activity to the police at (732) 530-2700.
