Believe it, barhoppers. A beloved Red Bank dive is about to get a makeover that will enable imbibers and — yes — diners to take advantage of great park and river views, thanks to unanimous planning board approval Monday night.

Yes, it’s already time for another edition of redbankgreen‘s Retail Churn. And once again, there’s news about Red Bank food and drink.
Right around the “read more” corner are details about big changes planned at Brannigan’s Bar & Grill, plus word of two national food chains hoping to get in on the head-spinning restaurantization of Red Bank: Jimmy John’s Deli and Chipotle Mexican Grill.

A vexing shortage of parking in downtown Sea Bright is slated to ease with the unofficial start of summer Friday.
With merchants hoping the second summer after Hurricane Sandy is better than the first, part of the newly rebuilt municipal parking lot was expected to be open in time for the Memorial Day weekend, borough Engineer Jacki Flor told redbankgreen Thursday.

To those in the know, it’s Sea Bright’s “free beach,” and free it shall remain for the foreseeable future, town officials say.
But one of the tradeoffs in visiting the Anchorage Beach – reliance on porta-potties for bathroom service – is finally about to end, at a steep cost.
The crime reports below were provided by the Red Bank Police Department for the period of December 10 to December 17, 2010. The information appears here unedited..
Theft occurring on 12-10-10 at W. Front St.-Riverside Gardens Park. Unknown person took a pocketbook which was placed on ground. Purse described as a black leather bag containing two Apple Nano Ipods, cash, keys and I.D. Lt. Michael Clay.
Theft occurring at Broad St. on 12-10-10. Victim reported that unknown subject(s) stole purse from shopping cart. Purse described as a navy blue floral print bag containing credit cards, prescription and various ID. Ptl. JamesDePonte.
Attempted Burglary occurring on 12-11-10 at Shrewsbury Ave business. Victim reported that unknown person(s) broke window in rear of business and damaged back door. No entry gained. Ptl. Paul Perez.
