The video cameras of Shore Sports Zone caught all the action as 2014 state champion RBC dropped to 6-2 on the season and Ocean improved to 6-1.

In a football game with nail-biting drama down to the last tick of the clock, Ocean Township stunned Red Bank Catholic with a 42-35 win at Count Basie Fields in Red Bank Friday night. RBR HALTS RBC STREAK WITH 24-21 HOME WIN

With both teams coming in at 5-0, the Red Bank Catholic at Red Bank Regional football clash stoked expectations Friday night. And the crosstown rivalry delivered the drama.

In this snippet from Shore Sports Zone highlights, Bucs QB Jack Navitsky breaks loose for a 58-yard touchdown run with 5:57 to play in the fourth quarter, sealing the Bucs’ 24-21 victory.

ROAD WINS PUT BUCS & CASEYS AT 3-0

Week three of the 2015 high school football season kicked off with Friday night victories by Red Bank Regional and Red Bank Catholic, and the video cameras of Shore Sports Zone were there.

On the road at Ocean Township, the RBR Bucs’ 16-6 win was highlighted by an 88-yard TD by Matt Reardon on a a Jack Navitsky pass to end the third quarter. Reardon also busted up Ocean’s attempt for two after its lone touchdown. The Bucs are now 3-0 on the season.

R-FH, RBC & RBR POST CONVINCING WINS

How did your high school football team do Friday night? Pretty darn well, if you’re talking about Rumson-Fair Haven, Red Bank Catholic or Red Bank Regional, as this monster highlight reel from Shore Sports Zone  shows.

Playing at home, the R-FH Bulldogs topped the Matawan Huskies 17-0 in a game with a scoreless second half. Quarterback Michael O’Connor connected with sophomore receiver Elijah McAllister for a 16-yard touchdown pass: check it out at the start of the reel.

Fast-forward to 5:50 if you’re in a rush to see how Eddie Hahn and the 2014 state champion RBC Caseys played against St. Joe’s of Metuchen. A week after putting the Caseys in the capable hands of backup QB Colin Shaughnessy, Hahn returned from injury for his first appearance of the season by tossing three TDs, including a 49-yarder to Mike Wilen, who also ripped an 80-yard TD run against the Falcons.

SICKELS POSTS BIG SPRING AT PENN STATE

garrett sickels 010112Former Red Bank Regional football standout Garrett Sickels closed out a big spring at Penn State with an honor as the team’s most improved defensive player, according to Fight On State. The 6-foot-4, 262-pound end, a redshirt sophomore from Red Bank, is in the running for a spot in the starting lineup this year after a freshman year in which he played in every game without starting, posting 13 tackles and two sacks. RBC LINEMAN SMITH COMMITS TO DUKE

Shore Sports Zone All-Zone offensive lineman Liam Smith, a junior at Red Bank Catholic, has given a verbal commitment to play in the ACC for David Cutcliffe and the Duke Blue Devils, according to a post on his Twitter account.

The 6-foot-5, 285 pound Smith, who helped guide RBC to a Non-Public state championship, chose Duke over numerous offers, including Virginia, Syracuse and Rutgers. (Video courtesy of Shore Sports Zone.)

RBR’S PALMER COMMITS TO SYRACUSE

Shore Sports Zone All-Zone wide receiver Sadiq Palmer of Red Bank Regional has given a verbal commitment to play for the Syracuse Orange as first reported by CuseNation.com.

Palmer was fourth in the Shore Conference in receiving in 2014 with 36 catches for 748 yards and 6 touchdown catches, averaging 20.77 yards a catch. At 6-foot-3, 185 pounds, Palmer has a big frame and great speed.  The Orange finished 3-9 in 2014 and has three New Jersey products on the roster.

RBR’S NAVITSKY IN SECONDARY ROLE

As quarterback, Red Bank Regional’s Jack Navitsky was a center of attention on the gridiron this past season. On the hardcourt, though, he’s more of a role player, focused on defense, and a big reason that RBR is one of the deepest and most dangerous teams in the Shore Conference. Navitsky talks to Shore Sports Zone about his roles.

RBC’S CELLA SCORES TD RUN OF THE YEAR

Nick Cella’s “pinball” scoring run for Red Bank Catholic against Manalapan on October 24 was the best TD run of the year in Monmouth and Ocean counties, according to viewers of Shore Sports Zone, the all-video online channel that debuted this year. And Cella’s honor was one of many at the first-ever SSZ All-Zone Banquet at IPlay America in Freehold Tuesday night.
