RED BANK: LUNCH BREAK NAMES NEW TRUSTEES

In a recent announcement, Red Bank-based nonprofit Lunch Break named Rick Brandt (pictured) to the nonprofit’s Board of Trustees. At  27 years of age, the lifelong resident of Little Silver is both the newest and the youngest member of the board, and will be involved with several of their committees.

Other new members joining the Lunch Break Board are Trudy Parton (Little Silver), Stuart Sendell (Rumson) and Juanita Lewis (Red Bank).

My trip in China has been amazing so far, and I still have 3 months in the semester left. I have so many great stories to share. Today was one of my favorites! My name was apparently mentioned in a conversation recently to someone and, from that, I was invited to Jiù Shān Stadium to help run practice for the newly formed Wenzhou Redbucks Football Team.

RED BANK: COLLEGE STUDENT EYES CHINA

Mario Williams was a student at Red Bank Regional a couple of years back when, on a tour of Kean University, he learned the school had a campus in mainland China. Almost immediately, he sensed that he had to go.

“I got the bug that day,” he told redbankgreen this week. Even after graduating from RBR and matriculating at the College of St. Rose in Albany, the idea stayed with him. And after transferring to Kean almost a year ago for financial reasons, “I started asking about it as soon as I got here.”

LINCROFT: CALL IN THE GOD SQUAD

“We are living in a age of polarization,” observes Christopher Bellitto — and with religion-based tensions running high throughout the world, trying to make sense of things could be a job befitting the special skills of the God Squad.

A professor of history at Kean University, Dr. Bellitto has appeared on CNN, the History Channel and other national media outlets as an expert on church history and Catholicism. He’s teamed in the God Squad with Rabbi Brooks Susman (pictured), a humanities instructor at  Brookdale Community College and the founding rabbi of Congregation Kol Am in Freehold.

On Thursday, December 11, the popular duo of speakers will present “Jews and Christians, Words and Deeds,” on BCC’s Lincroft campus; a lively, dynamic, pre-holiday examination of the texts that serve as the basis for Western faith belief.
