Rumson took in 171 firearms, including the rifles and pistols shown here, up from 125 last year, and Asbury Park collected 188, up from 93.

The event, in which guns could be surrendered anonymously and without questions, paid a total $25,100, which  funded in part by the Sellig family of Rumson. The weapons will be destroyed, authorities said. (Photo by John T. Ward. Click to enlarge)
