All dedicated to raising funds for worthy causes, and all happening in the post-Labor Day interlude to come.

This coming Labor Day Monday, September 5 represents the deadline to reserve your ringside seat for the End of Summer — as declared by the nonprofit Sandy Hook Foundation in its annual casual-attire outdoor benefit gala, which returns on September 9 to the North Beach area of the Hook for a seasonal sayonara that commences at 6:30 pm. With tickets beginning at $150, proceeds benefit the Foundation’s ongoing preservation efforts as well as seasonal activities like the popular Free Beach Concert series, in addition to the environmental awareness and educational campaigns of the Fort Hancock-based American Littoral Society. Promised are “dancing under the stars” to live music from Swift Technique; a buffet dinner featuring seafood raw bar furnished by The Lusty Lobster, and an “amazing auction” of exclusive-experience getaway packages. IT’S ALL CRICKET, AT LIBRARY FUNDRAISER

Oceanic LibThe Seabright Lawn Tennis and Cricket Club is the setting for a roof-raising fundraiser, on behalf of Rumson’s Oceanic Free Library and scheduled for September 14.

When last we looked in on Rumson’s Oceanic Free Library, the venerable borough landmark was actively prosecuting a “Raise the Roof!” capital campaign — an endeavor dedicated to funding some needed refurbishments and refreshments of the library building, through fundraising vehicles that ranged from a Cupcake Wars challenge, to an afternoon tea with superstar decorator Mario Buatta.

On Sunday, September 14, it’s “anyone for tennis” — or perhaps a spot of cricket — as the Seabright Lawn Tennis and Cricket Club  (Tennis Court Lane in Rumson) hosts an evening benefit event for the library’s cause. Scheduled from 5 to 7:30 pm, it’s an event that promises wine, beer, hors d’oeuvres, plus silent auction, 50/50 and an end-of-summer opportunity to enjoy the scenic setting of the grass-court club founded in 1877.
