RED BANK: HOUSE RAZED, BOOTS STOLEN

The morning after a tenacious fire Thursday, 16 Leonard Street in Red Bank was reduced to a pile of rubble, having been ordered demolished by borough officials.

Meanwhile, an unidentified Sea Bright firefighter who responded to the blaze was looking for a pair of work boots said to have been stolen from his truck on Bridge Avenue, allegedly by the man in the blue Volvo, at right.

SPREE BURGLAR HITS RIVER PLAZA HOMES


The River Plaza section of Middletown was the scene of what appears to be a spree of break-ins by a suspect who stole a resident’s car early Thursday and is still on the loose.

A reader sent redbankgreen this account Thursday evening. We’ve removed the house numbers:

Last night at 3:30 am a resident surprised a burglar in his house at XX Hubbard Ave. He scared the intruder off and called the police.

Then a house 4 doors down the street was visited and stuff was stolen on the back porch. The burglar then went to our neighbors at XX Hubbard Ave. The car and house keys were stolen and the back door on the porch was propped open.

TWO CARS STOLEN FROM SAME OWNER

Thieves stole two cars from the same owner Tuesday evening, Fair Haven police say.

A Range Rover and a Mercedes, both parked in a driveway unlocked and with keys inside, were taken sometime between 5 p.m. and 8:30 p,m., Detective Jesse Dykstra tells redbankgreen.

“During dinnertime,” he said. “It was pretty brazen.”

Theft occurring at West Bergen Place between 6-28-11 and 6-29-11. For the past several months’ young children of the Head Start Program have been planting vegetables and maintaining them in an enclosed pad locked area behind the building.
