RED BANK: DAY CARE KEEPS ON TRUCKIN’

From the neighbor’s house to the White House, there’s no denying that big rig trucks, emergency equipment and other heavy-duty machines hold a special appeal for kids of all ages — and when the opportunity presents itself to climb into the driver’s seat, it’s a rare treat indeed.

Ask the staff of Red Bank’s Monmouth Day Care Center and they’ll surely agree that the safely supervised combination of kids and trucks is a winning formula — and when the Touch-a-Truck event returns to the parking lot of Red Bank Middle School this Saturday morning, it will mark the eighth annual appearance of a successful FUNraising vehicle that’s well worth waiting for.

RED BANK: CLIMBING ABOARD & IMAGINING

The Monmouth Day Care Center’s annual on Touch-a-Truck fundraiser at the Red Bank Middle School offered up a photo-op bounty for parents Saturday. Not only did the kids get to touch the trucks, they got to sit in the driver’s seats of a limo, an Army jeep and a police car. They honked horns, asked for keys so they could drive, and went home with memories – which the photos taken by mom and dad will surely jog later in life.  (Photos by Susan Ericson. RED BANK: IF IT MOVES, THEY’RE ON IT

Limousine, ambulance, utility truck, boat: set a bunch of kids loose in a parking lot full of large vehicles, with license to touch them, and they will touch, alright – and clamber and crawl, as the folks from the Monmouth Day Care Center saw on Saturday at their annual on Touch-a-Truck day at the Red Bank Middle School.  (Hover over picture to pause slideshow)

RED BANK KIDS TOUCH A TRUCK (OR 16)

Monmouth Day Care Center drew over 200 families to its third annual “Touch a Truck” fundraiser, held at the Red Bank Middle School Saturday. Sixteen vehicles (a fire truck, limo, speedboat, bulldozer and more) were giddily honked and climbed as kids explored the machinery parked throughout Red Bank Middle School’s parking lot. Tickets were $10 per family and went toward  the nonprofit MDCC’s operating costs and a scholarship fund. “We’re all about kids, so we wanted to do something for the kids in our community,” said Heidi Zaentz, the center’s executive director.   (Photos by Danielle Tepper.
