McLOONE SLATED FOR NATIONAL CAMEO

mcloonesmallTim McLoone (right), whose Holiday Express big band brings wall-of-sound cheer to those most in need of it this time of year, is about to get some network love.

Brian Williams, the Middletown and former volunteer fireman who now anchors NBC Nightly News, is scheduled to air a segment on McLoone’s charitably-oriented musical endeavors on the program Friday night, according to a report in the New York Daily News.

McLoone, a restaurateur who lives in Little Silver, is slated to be featured in a recurring segment called “Making a Difference,” which highlights good news and people who give their time to help others, writes News columnist Richard Huff.

From the article:

“I grew up listening to Tim McLoone play the Tradewinds [nightclub] when I was in high school,” says Williams, who was raised in Middletown, N.J. “We danced and had a good old time to Tim McLoone.”

Despite Williams’ intimate knowledge of McLoone’s early years – and having recently eaten at one of McLoone’s restaurants in Sea Bright, N.J. – it was his NBC News co-worker Natalie Morales who suggested McLoone for the segment.

“It’s unbelievable,” Williams says. “He doesn’t ask for attention or compensation, he just does it.”

The segment is scheduled for 6:30p on Channel 4.
