Over the weekend, the apples they selected were transformed into more than a dozen succulent pies, strudels and cakes.
And Monday morning, the baked goods arrived at school with the children for the K-through-12 academy’s annual pie-tasting event.
Led by the principal, Rev. Elmer Jackson, the students and staff tucked into the sweet bounty, plentiful enough for all to have seconds.
The academy, housed at the Calvary Baptist Church on Bridge Avenue at River Street, was founded in 2000 and uses an accredited learning program individualized to each student’s abilities.
