STABBING, TRAIN DEATH MAR HOLIDAY

Red Bank Police Chief Mark Fitzgerald confirmed yesterday that a stabbing occurred on New Year’s Eve on or near Dr. Parkers Boulevard. Details of the incident will be released today, he told redbankgreen.

Also over the holiday, a 20-year-old Middletown man was killed by a train at the Red Bank station at about 11:30p New Year’s Eve. Joseph Hardwood was reported to have been lying on the tracks as a southbound train approached the station. The Asbury Park Press has a story today.

We’re told police Capt. Pete DeFazio is OK after collapsing at the conclusion of the Red Bank government reorganization meeting yesterday.

Witnesses said DeFazio apparently fainted after standing throughout the 80-minute event. He was immediately taken into the adjoining police station by Borough Administrator Stanley Sickels and others for medical assistance.
