DAYLONG SNOWFALL EXPECTED

Red Bank’s plows could get their second workout in less than a week today.

The National Weather Service says snow starting this morning will leave 3 to 5 inches in Monmouth County (and perhaps an inch less in immediate coastal areas) by early evening Tuesday.

Another inch or two could fall tonight, with the snow ending around 1a, the agency forecasts.

Here’s how it plays out, according to the crystal ball at the NWS:

RATES ARE EXPECTED TO INCREASE GRADUALLY THIS MORNING,WITH THE BULK OF THE SNOW FALLING DURING THE LATE MORNING AND AFTERNOON HOURS. THE SNOW IS ANTICIPATED TO TAPER TO SNOW SHOWERS THIS EVENING BEFORE ENDING.

Today: Snow, mainly after 7am. High near 36. North wind around
15 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. Total daytime snow
accumulation of 2 to 4 inches possible.

Tonight: Snow
showers likely, mainly before 1am. Cloudy, with a low around 24. North
wind between 10 and 13 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New snow
accumulation of 1 to 2 inches possible.

Wednesday: Mostly cloudy, with a high near 32. North wind between 10 and 16 mph.

Wednesday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 14. Northwest wind around 14 mph.

Thursday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 28. Breezy, with a northwest wind between 14 and 21 mph.

Thursday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 20.

Friday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 39.

Friday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 30.

Saturday: Partly sunny, with a high near 48.
