Today’s edition of Red Bank oRBit welcomes a pair of cultural ambassadors from the republic of Texas to the crimson banks of the Navesink — one in spirit, the other in the crooked-grinned, big-eared, high-haired flesh that’s seduced movie stars and music lovers alike.
Lady Bird is of course the late Mrs. Lyndon B. Johnson, one of a trio of famous First Ladies coming to the stage of  the Two River Theater this weekend in Tea For Three, as personified by Emmy winning actress Elaine Bromka (right). Pat Nixon and Betty Ford complete the Bromka Troika.
Also today, an appreciation (that’s what we call it when we don’t score an interview) of Lyle Lovett, the Tex-born singer, songwriter and actor who’s outpaced a brief stint as Mr. Julia Roberts to reclaim his rightful place on our nation’s musical landscape. He’s back at the Basie (where he sold out his last couple of shows) this Thursday, with a new album to add to the catalog and his magnificent Large Band (they do grow ’em big out there). We’ve got the deets on these deelites, along with that most non-Texan phenomenon The Secret Syde, right here at  Red Bank oRBit!
