MOTHER & SON BUSTED IN DRUG RAID

just_in1A 52-year-old woman and her 19-year-old son were among four people arrested on drug charges as part of a predawn raid by Red Bank police earlier today.

The bust, at 196 Leighton Avenue, also led to charges against the son arising from a May 2 attack on West Sunset Avenue in which the victim was seriously injured, says police Captain Darren McConnell.

Here’s the press release issued by McConnell this afternoon:

Red Bank Police executed a pre-dawn search warrant this morning on a
residence located at 196 Leighton Avenue. The warrant was the result of a narcotics
investigation by members of the department’s anti-crime unit.

Arrested in the raid were Jamiel Rock, 19 years old, his mother Loray Rock, 52
years old, and two male juveniles. Jamiel Rock was charged with Possession of a
Controlled Dangerous Substance, Possession with Intent to Distribute, Possession
within 500 feet of a Public Housing Project and Resisting Arrest; his bail was set at
$45,000 on those charges. Loray Rock was charged with Possession of Heroin and
Possession of Narcotic Paraphernalia; she was released on her own recognizance. A
fifteen year-old male juvenile from Eatontown was arrested on an outstanding order of
arrest from the Monmouth County Superior Court and was placed in the Monmouth
County Youth Detention Center. A 17 year old Red Bank juvenile was arrested for
Aggravated Assault on a Police Officer after he assaulted Ptl. Robert Campanella at the
scene of the warrant execution; he was later released to his mother and charges were
filed through the Monmouth County Prosecutors Office.

In addition to the narcotics offenses, officers conducting the search located
evidence linking Jamiel Rock to a robbery that occurred on West Sunset Avenue on
May 2 in which a Red Bank man was seriously injured. Rock has now been charged
with Robbery and Aggravated Assault in regards to that incident. His bail on those
charges was set at $200,000. Rock was transported to the Monmouth County
Correctional Institution.

Assisting with the search of the property was a K-9 unit from the New Jersey
State Department of Corrections.
