A Red Bank man was stabbed by a screwdriver-wielding acquaintance on River Street Saturday night, borough police reported today.
Here’s the text of an announcement from department spokesman Captain Darren McConnell:
At approximately 9pm on Saturday, September 11, Red Bank
police responded to a River Street home for a report of a disturbance
taking place.
Ptl. Gary Watson and Ptl. Thomas Doremus found that a
man had been stabbed by an acquaintance while inside the residence.
A subsequent investigation by the two patrolmen and Lt. Eliot Ramos
of the department’s detective bureau revealed that the 36 year old
victim, who also resides in Red Bank and was a guest at the house,
was stabbed by Miguel Aguilar-Espindola, 31 years old, of River
Street.
The victim was transported to Riverview Medical Center with
several wounds to his chest caused by a screwdriver that Aguilar-
Espindola was using as a weapon. The victim’s wounds were not
considered life threatening.
Aguilar-Espindola was charged with Aggravated Assault,
Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose, and Unlawful
Possession of a Weapon. His bail was set at $7,500 and he was
incarcerated in the Monmouth County Jail.
