DRESSED TO HEAL AT HEART HEALTH EVENT

heart_truth1Designer creations from the Red Dress Collection at NYC’s Fashion Week will be on display at Buona Sera on February 24, as part of Meridian’s Heart Month fundraiser.

It’s an evening out on the town, at one of the hottest nightspots on the greater Green, and it’s strictly ladies only — but this is one event for which that little black dress is going to have to stay home on the hanger.

When the third annual Red Dress Event returns to Red Bank next Thursday, February 24, the guests of honor will be a selection of six top-designer crimson creations from the Red Dress Collection, seen during Fashion Week  2011 in NYC.

Still, while the evening promises to set any fashionista’s pulse racing, at the heart of the festivities is a serious subject — as serious as the disease that’s been branded the Number One killer of women.

Keyed in to The Heart Truth campaign and the February observance of American Heart Month, the 7p event at Buona Sera on Maple Avenue “blends fashion, education, and fun” with the aim to “educate and empower women to take control of their heart health.”

Hosted by Meridian CardioVascular Network, the party promises such attractions as signature red cocktails,  hors d’oeuvres, door prizes and giveaways —  but the star attraction has got to be the opportunity to get up close to those one-of-a-kind dresses.

While a list of the specific featured designs hasn’t been made public, the roster is sure to be drawn from the February 9 Fashion Week runway event, in which such designers as Oscar de la Renta, Nicole Miller, and Zac Posen joined in the campaign to increase awareness of heart disease among women. Chances are good that you’d be viewing something once worn by Suzanne Somers, or even Dita Von Teese.

Also featured within the evening’s festivities will be a chance to hear “stories from local women who have survived heart disease with the help of Meridian hospitals, as well as expert tips on how to decrease risk factors.”

Tickets for the Red Dress Event at Buona Sera are $50 each, with a portion of the proceeds dedicated to the Meridian Women’s Heart Connection  program. Reserve those tix or get additional information by calling 1-800-DOCTORS.
