M’TOWN: BEGGING FOR SMOKES… AT A GYM?

• On June 27, 2011 at approximately 7:30 pm Patrolman Richard Fulham was on patrol in the area of Chanceville Park when he observed a suspicious vehicle parked in the parking area. The officer approached the vehicle and detected an odor of raw Marijuana coming from inside the car.

Patrolman Fulham conducted an investigation which resulted in the recovery of Marijuana and a pipe used to smoke Marijuana as well as the arrest of Joseph Hughes, age 18, from Oak Street in Keansburg, NJ. Hughes was charged with Possession of under 50 Grams of Marijuana and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. He was transported to police headquarters where he was processed and released pending a court date.

• On June 27, 2011 at approximately 10:10 pm Patrolman Richard Fulham was on patrol in the area of Chanceville Park when he observed a suspicious vehicle parked in the parking area. The officer approached the vehicle and detected an odor of burnt Marijuana coming from inside the car.

Patrolman Fulham conducted an investigation which resulted in the recovery Marijuana and the arrest of a 17 year old male juvenile from Middletown who was charged with Possession of under 50 grams of Marijuana. The juvenile was transported to police headquarters where he was processed and released to his mother pending a court date.

• On June 27, 2011 Patrolman Brian Dilworth and Patrolman Anthony Dellatacoma arrested Justin Zeidner, age 19, from Golden Eye Lane in Port Monmouth, NJ, for two counts of Falsifying Medical Records. The arrest was a result of an investigation conducted by the officers after Zeidner was found in possession of falsified prescription blanks on June 22, 2011 at the WAWA store in Leonardo.

The officers had responded to the store after receiving information that Zeidner was in possession of prescription medications that had not been prescribed to him. The officers located Zeidner  and found two prescription blanks that appeared to have been altered. The officers conducted a follow up investigation with the doctor who was listed on the blanks and confirmed that he had not prescribed the medications to Zeidner.

Zeidner was processed and was being held on $15,000 set by Judge Richard Thompson.

• On June 28, 2011 at approximately 5:40 pm Patrolman James Beirne responded to the area of the Retro Fitness Gym in reference to a report of a woman begging customers for cigarettes. Upon arrival Officer Beirne located Janis Van Nortwick, age 42, from Oakdale Drive in Middletown standing in front of the gym.

Officer Beirne conducted an investigation and determined there was a Contempt of Court warrant issued by the Middletown Municipal court for Van Nortwick’s arrest. She was taken into custody and was transported to police headquarters for processing. She was being held at the Monmouth County Correctional Facility in Freehold on $2,500.00 bail.

• On June 28, 2011 at approximately 11:00am Corporal Douglas Wiatrak was assigned to a traffic enforcement detail when he stopped a vehicle because the driver was not wearing a seatbelt. Upon approaching the driver, identified as James Burbank, age 20, from Franklin Avenue in Leonardo, NJ, the officer observed a 30 pack of Keystone Beer on the back seat.

Corporal Wiatrak conducted an investigation which resulted in Burbank being arrested for Underage Possession of Alcohol. He was transported to police headquarters for processing and was released pending a court date.
